Tunis: Grand Mufti of the Republic Hichem Ben Mahmoud announced that Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. This date corresponds to the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH. The Mufti made this announcement in a statement released on Saturday evening.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, the Mufti explained that the determination of the date was based on moon sighting and astronomical calculations. He further clarified that Sunday, May 17, would mark the completion of the thirty days of the month of Dhu al-Qi'dah 1447 AH. Consequently, Monday, May 18, 2026, will be the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH, leading to the celebration of Eid al-Adha on May 27.
