Naval units brought eighty-five undocumented migrants under control early on Thursday as they attempted to have the high seas tugboat of Ashtart oil platform take them to Italian coasts
The ship’s captain said the migrants tried to take control of the tugboat after being rescued, the Defence Ministry said in a press release. The crew members had to take refuge in the bridge till navy units arrive.
The oil platform said Wednesday its tugboat rescued 77 Egyptians, one Syrian, a Moroccan and six Bangladeshis after their boat took on water.
The undocumented migrants said they had set sail Tuesday from Libyan coasts.
