El Fahs fire “being brought under control”

The two fires that broke out on Tuesday evening at the Oum Labouab and Faidh El Kamh Mountains in the El Fahs delegation are “being brought under control, regional director of civil protection in Zaghouan Salem Yousfi said on Wednesday.

According to the same source, all the human and material resources were mobilised, adding that the flames were extinguished over a large area and the efforts of fire-fighters continue to limit the fire.

The wind-blown flames quickly spread from the locality of Djebel Knaziz to Bargou (governorate of Siliana) to the Oum Labouab and Faidh El Kamh Mountains in El Fahs (Zaghouan governorate).

Large forest areas were destroyed, the source told the TAP correspondent.

The residents of the neighboring localities were accommodated in a local high school on Tuesday.

They have returned home after all safety measures have been taken.
