El Faouar sit-inners ask for implementation of their requests

The sit-inners of El Faouar’s delegation in Kebili asked the government and the House of People’s Representative (HPR) to activate the implementation of their claims and proposals presented by the deputy of the Governorate of Kebili Fadhel Ben Omrane and forward them to the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the HPR.

Coordination member Mabrouk Khelifi stressed on Sunday in a statement to TAP that their sit-in is continuing peacefully until now, warning the government against escalating their movement “in case they do not receive response, as soon as possible, to their requests”.

Khelifi pointed out that one of the sit-inners of El Faouar started on Saturday an open hunger strike.

Fadhel Ben Omrane (Nida Tounes movement) visited the sit-inners of El Faouar on 24 June 2017 and enquired about their requests, concerns and suggestions.

Following this visit, the MP sent a memorandum to the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the HPR, on 29 June 2017, asking them to present the matter to the Bureau of HPR as soon as possible for examination, considering that the intervention of the HPR in the file will allow a return of confidence in the State.

Ben Omrane criticised the government’s lack of vision not only regarding the examination of the case of the governorate of Kebili but also of the other regions, the memorandum reads.

He also blamed in a statement on Sunday to TAP the absence of regional authorities, especially the governor of Kebili, the first responsible for the region and others directly concerned by the topic at the working session organised at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture on June 22, 2017, in the presence of several ministers and representatives of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), stressing that “nobody has idea of the subject treated nor agreement agreed on the occasion of this meeting “.

The demands of the sit-inners for a month in El Faouar (Governorate of Kebili) are the strengthening of development and employment in the region, including the creation of public projects, the improvement of the capacity of the company and the strengthening of the social and economic actions of oil companies in the region by increasing the funding allocated for this purpose, in addition to the creation of subsidiaries in the governorate.

The MP also presented in the memorandum several proposals for resolving problems of the region and the other regions in general.

The governorate of Kebili experiences several sit-ins in oil-producing areas, like El Faouar where two transport pumps oil and gas companies “Brunico” and “Winstar” were closed.
