Ankara: The number of electric vehicles (EVs) on Turkish roads surged 120.6% from a year earlier, reaching 289,457 units by the end of July. This significant increase highlights a shift in consumer preference towards electric mobility, facilitated by an expanding charging infrastructure and the introduction of Trkiye’s domestically produced EV brand, Togg.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye had a total of 16.8 million cars in July, with electric vehicles making up 1.7% of the entire fleet. The number of registered EVs, which was a mere 565 in 2015, has now surpassed the 250,000 mark as of last month.

Hybrid vehicles have also experienced rapid growth in Trkiye. The number of registered hybrids, which was only 23 in 2011, increased to 222,328 by the end of 2023, 391,269 in 2024, and 556,995 by July 2025. These vehicles now constitute 3.3% of the total car fleet, up from 2.4% at the end of the previous year.
