Eleven shells and anti-vehicle landmines discovered in Ben Guerdane (MoI)

11 shells and anti-vehicle landmines that had been used in the 2016 terrorist operations in Ben Guerdane were discovered by the counter terrorism units on Monday and in the past days, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

Following intelligence reports about the existence of ammunition and explosives in one of the abandoned houses in Ben Guerdane, the Central Counter-Terrorism Directorate units discovered on Monday evening, 3 anti-vehicle landmines buried in the surroundings of an abandoned house used as a hideout by terrorist elements who had infiltrated the Tunisian territory in Ben Guerdane in 2016, had taken refuge, the press release explained.

Eight shells had also been discovered in recent days, the same source added, specifying that in coordination with the National Defence Ministry’s civil engineering department, these shells had been seized and destroyed.
