Ennahdha Movement has called for demonstrations Sunday “to defend rights and freedoms”, making the government in power “fully responsible for the deterioration of the standard of living of Tunisians”.
In a statement released Wednesday evening, it denounced the “laxity of the authorities in the face of rising prices, shortages of basic commodities, the delay in the payment of public sector salaries and the total absence of government.
It condemns the “attempts of the ruling power to evade responsibility for the economic, social and political crisis, and to find pretexts for its inability to govern and to achieve its rescue promises”.
Ennahdha warns against “the risks of a social implosion”, calling for “putting an end to the state of exception, restoring the democratic process with constitutional legitimacy and opening a comprehensive national dialogue that brings political and governmental stability essential for an economic rescue that will prevent the country from bankruptcy”.
