The Ennahdha movement said Thursday it was concerned about the “pressure” exerted on judges and attempts to “control the judiciary” for political purposes.
The movement warned against “attacking the media» and journalists and jailing or prosecuting them by military courts without reason in a clear violation of press freedom. The party cites as an example the Zitouna TV channel.
It also denounced “hateful political discourse”, which only “divide Tunisians”. The party also warned against accusations of treachery and corruption made against political opponents.
In a statement issued after its executive board meeting held Wednesday, Ennahdha said there has been a “resurgence of defamatory comments after July 25, 2021, in total contradiction with the values for living together and the ethics of democratic debate.
