Ennahdha movement said it rejected the «violation of constitutional procedures in the process of forming the new government,» calling it «a de facto government and the government of unconstitutional decree 117.»
Ennahdha added in a statement Thursday after the regular meeting of its executive board on Wednesday evening «the illegitimacy will widen the challenges and obstacles for the government in addressing domestic affairs and its relations with international partners.»
On another level, Ennahdha said it was surprised «by the persistence of the virulent speech towards political opponents,» referring to the speech of President of the Republic Kais Saied.
«It is a speech that divides the Tunisian people, fuels conflicts and harms national unity and Tunisia’s reputation. It reduces opportunities for cooperation with international institutions and harms the national economic fabric, without accounting for the country’s difficult financial situation,» Ennahdha deplored.
The movement also warned against «continuing to exert pressure on the judiciary,» demanding to respect its independence and to provide all necessary resources for this public service, in compliance with the principle of separation of powers.
The Prime Minister and members of the new government were sworn in before the President of the Republic last Monday, immediately after the announcement of its composition.
