Ennahdha says will challenge Anouar Maarouf’s house arrest decision with Administrative Court

(TAP) – Former minister and leader in Ennahdha movement Anouar Maarouf was informed by police officers he has been placed under house arrest, without being provided him a written copy of the decision and the reasons for the order from the Interior Minister, as stipulated by the law, the party said Friday.

In a statement issued Friday, Ennahdha said it rejects this “illegal” measure that has affected judges, activists and politicians, expressing solidarity with Anouar Maarouf and with “the victims of these procedures.»

The party will file a challenge with the Administrative Court against the decision which it called “abusive and does not respect legal procedures,” reads the statement.

In addition, Ennahdha called on the President of the Republic to end the procedures violating the provisions of the Constitution, the law and international treaties.
