The role of the State consists in helping project developers get started and obtain funding and relaxing administrative procedures, Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy Anouar MaArouf Wednesday said.

He also told participants, as the fifth edition of the entrepreneurship fair Riyeda opened Wednesday in Tunis, the State will cover the costs of any Tunisian patent registration under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).

The Minister also shed light on the difficulties facing private operators, including those in relation to exchange laws that hinder the opening of offshore bank accounts. Entrepreneurship needs a boost for it provides more opportunities than civil service, he emphasised in this vein.

Minister of Industry and Small-and Medium-Sized Enterprises Slim Feriani said 400 MTD were earmarked for the restructuring of ailing businesses, including 100 MTD that will be disbursed this year .

Existing firms need to be supported to expand and keep abreast of change before any new businesses are set up, he underlined.
