EU-AU Summit in Brussels: Kais Saied calls for partnership of equals

President Kais Saied said he was looking forward to opening new prospects for cooperation with European Union (EU) countries, calling for a partnership of equals.

In a statement to foreign media on the sidelines of his participation in the 6th European Union-African Union Summit, Saied pointed out that “we are now ushering in a new stage of history that requires new visions.”

He urged identifying the real causes behind the deteriorating situation in African countries, 60 or 70 years after their independence.

“It is necessary to establish cooperative relations based on equality between all parties,” he stressed.

The 6th EU-AU summit began on Thursday afternoon in the Belgian capital Brussels. It will run until Friday.

The main leaders of the European and African continents are taking part in this event to discuss such issues as the new economic and financial contract, the fight against the repercussions of COVID-19 and climate change.
