EU to help Tunisia acquire more COVID-19 vaccines (Ursula von der Leyen)

(TAP correspondent/ Sofien Manai) – The European Union will continue its support to Africa, including Tunisia, particularly in the fight against the coronavirus, by acquiring more vaccines, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said Friday in Brussels.

«The EU will also help boost Tunisia’s economic recovery, particularly sectors that were deeply hit by the COVID-19 pandemic including tourism, services and air transport,» she told reporters at the end of her meeting with President of the Republic Kais Saied in Brussels

The two parties had discussions on the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the set of economic reforms to be introduced to boost growth.

The European official expressed the European Commission’s commitment to back Tunisia and attract foreign investments.

”The EU is ready to offer its expertise to Tunisia in the fields of SMEs development, green economy, education and employment” she said, adding that ”more scholarships will be offered to Tunisian university students.”
