(TAP correspondent Sofien Manai) – The European Parliament will help Tunisia increase its investments and take up the economic and social challenges facing it, President of the European Parliament David Maria Sassoli affirmed on Friday in Brussels.

“The European Parliament stands by Tunisia, particularly during this delicate phase characterised notably by an unprecedented health crisis,” he said at the end of his meeting with President Kais Saied.

the European Parliament is committed to supporting the reforms undertaken by Tunisia to increase its attractiveness and improve the business climate, a Presidency of the Republic source said.

The Head of State pointed out for his part, that Tunisia and the European Union (EU) share the same values and principles and a mutual willingness to take up the challenges at the economic, political and social levels.

Besides, President Kais Saied called for identifying new mechanisms to reboot the economy and boost the Tunisia-EU partnership, particularly in the fields of youth, migration, counter-terrorism, security and combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
