Exports of dates at record level

Date exports for the present season are at a record level compared to previous years, having evolved around 25% from last year, and the quantities exported have increased by 4%, according to data of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

The quantities of dates exported since the beginning of the season (October 10, 2017) until January 23, 2018 reached nearly 37,669 thousand tonnes worth 237.352 million dinars (MD) against 37,669 thousand tonnes having generated the sum of 189.607 MD during the same period of the past season, a statement of the ministry appeared Thursday reads.

The quantities of organic dates exported during this season reached 4,752 tonnes against 4,102 tonnes during the same period last season, an increase of 16%.

The Ministry explained this increase by the quantities exported to Indonesia (122%), the United States (107%) and India (439%). A stability was recorded at the level of the Moroccan market which occupies the first place with 8.2 thousand tonnes, then those of Italy (5.1 tonnes), France (3.7 thousand tonnes), then Spain and Germany with similar quantities exceeding 2.7 thousand tonnes.
