Extradition of 45 Tunisians arrested in Libya for attempted illegal immigration

Libyan authorities have extradited 45 Tunisian youths who were involved in an illegal immigration attempt from the Libyan city of Zawiya on Saturday.

According to a statement released by the Foreign Affairs Department on Saturday, Tunisian youths were handed over to the Tunisian authorities at the Ras Jedir border crossing on Saturday afternoon.

The extradition of these young people comes a few days after a three-day official visit (from August 21 to 23, 2017) to Tripoli by a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Department.

The Libyan authorities had extradited home a first group of 78 young Tunisians on 11 August 2017.

The Foreign Ministry commended the Libyan national government, the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Libyan judicial authorities and the local authorities of the city of Zawiya for their collaboration in this file.
