The National Commission for the Fight against Human Trafficking (French: INLTP) is working on a plan to create a regional centre for training and trainer training in areas of trafficking in persons and illegal migration, said its president Raoudha Laabidi.

The creation of this centre, the first of its kind in the world, is one of the proposals submitted by the authority when it won the 2019 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report Heroes Award.

Laabidi said the centre is expected to be operational later this year. This will be in cooperation with the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking and the International Labour Organisation. The ultimate purpose is to exchange experiences for better legislation, Laabidi further said.
