Fight against monopoly and passing draft laws and decrees (Prime Ministry)

Prime Minister Youssef Chahed recommended at a cabinet meeting held Thursday to continue the campaign to control distribution channels, fight against monopoly and put purchasing power of the citizen at the top of the government priorities, according to a statement issued by the Prime Ministry.

The cabinet commended the disbursement of funds allocated to the High Council of the Judiciary after an agreement reached between the parties concerned, which is likely to support the action of the Council, the same source specified.

After reviewing the data on the security situation and the implementation of the state budget for the year 2017 as well as the development of internal trade, the meeting adopted five draft laws. The first concerns the approval of a credit agreement between Tunisia and the German Credit and Reconstruction Institution (KFW) for financing the water sector reform support programme.

The second bill concerns the approval of an agreement between Tunisia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for financing the economic inclusion of young people project.

The third project relates to the loan agreement between Tunisia and the African Development Bank (AfDB) for financing an inclusive regional development programme.

As regards the fourth agreement, it concerns the forward sale agreement between Tunisia and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) concerning the contribution to the Sidi Saaida and Kalaa Kebira dams and the relevant establishments.

Finally, the 5th project concerns the status of the High Independent Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA).

The meeting has also adopted two government decrees. The first concerns the creation of two management units according to the objectives for the implementation of an inclusive management project in less developed areas, while the second decree concerns the achievement of a project to improve the management of the State of the Ministry of Relations with Constitutional Structures, Civil Society and Human Rights.

Several draft decrees of individual nature related to the civil service and to public enterprises and institutions were also adopted, according to the statement.
