Final Declaration of CPR National Council

The National Council of the Congress for the Republic (CpR), meeting in Sousse on September 9 and 10 expressed concern over the deteriorating economic situation in the country, due to what he called the wrong choices by the government.

“All indicators suggest that the new finance law should put the burden of the economic crisis on the backs of the poorest and most marginalised,” the CpR Council said in a statement, criticizing the authorities’ disinterest in the implementation of reforms “.

In addition, members of the CpR Council have sounded the alarm over the missed constitutional deadlines for the installation of the Constitutional Court. They also denounced the blockage in the implementation of Chapter 7 of the Constitution on local power, it said in the same statement.

According to them, the authorities did not provide the legal requirements for the organisation of municipal elections, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 7 of the Constitution.
