Financial situation of CNSS is clearly improving (CEO of CNAM)

The financial situation of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) has improved significantly since early 2018, CEO of the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) Bachir Yarmani said on Saturday.

“This improvement was possible thanks to the social solidarity contribution that was provided for by the 2018 budget law,” he said at a study day held in Tunis on World Health Day.

This contribution has brought revenue to the CNSS, he pointed out, stating that the volume of expenses of this fund varies between 180 and 200 million dinars per month.

“The reform of the retirement system will restore the financial balance of the CNSS,” he said, noting that the government has made exceptional efforts to achieve this goal.

He recalled, in this regard, that the government has spent 300 million dinars in 2016 to restore the financial balance of social funds, saying that an additional budget of 500 million dinars has been allocated for this purpose.

The number of social security fund members in Tunisia is estimated at 3.5 million people.

The beneficiaries of health services amount to 7 million people, while 2 million do not benefit of these services.
