The fire that broke out on Sunday in the Bouabdallah forest in Kesra in the governorate of Siliana has been extinguished after ravaging 6 hectares of forest cover, said head of the local disaster response and rescue organisation committee Walid Abassi. All the human and material potential has been harnessed by the local civil protection, forestry and equipment directorates to contain the flames, Abassi added in a statement to TAP. The civil protection and forestry officers will remain on site to continue the cooling operations, he said. The strong wind had caused the spread of the fire, civil protection local director Colonel Mohamed Ali Ben Bihi told TAP.
