First Gabes-Djerba passenger ferry service launched

A first passenger ferry service operating from Gabes to Djerba was launched Saturday in the commercial port of Gabes.

Two daily fast ferry crossings of an hour-and-a-half each are scheduled in the morning and the evening, project promoter Mohamed Kilani told TAP.

A similar ferry route linking Sfax and Djerba opened on March 8.

Two fast ferries built in Shanghai (China) with a capacity of 57 passengers each were put into service last January 24 in the fishing port of Sfax to operate these routes.
