FirstBank Ghana Opens New Branch in Tamale, Emphasizes Financial Inclusion

Tamale: Ms Rosie Ebe-Arthur, Non-Executive Director of FirstBank Ghana, has highlighted the critical need for modern banking to be inclusive, accessible, and empowering, especially for underserved communities throughout the country. She emphasized that banking has evolved beyond mere transactions to become a powerful tool for creating opportunities and driving lasting transformation.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms Ebe-Arthur made these remarks during the commissioning of FirstBank Ghana's new branch in Tamale. She described the new facility as a significant commitment by the bank to financial inclusion and socio-economic development in northern Ghana. The event was attended by various stakeholders, including traditional and religious authorities, clients, and business stakeholders.

The Tamale branch aims to provide quality financial services to a diverse clientele, focusing on individuals, small businesses, and the informal sector, such as traders, farmers, and artisans, who are frequently left out of formal banking services. Ms Ebe-Arthur noted that through mobile and agent banking, the bank is breaking down barriers to reach customers in both urban and remote locations. The bank's products are specifically designed to meet the needs of market traders, shea butter processors, tricycle operators, teachers, and students.

Ms Ebe-Arthur reiterated FirstBank Ghana's commitment to promoting financial literacy, emphasizing that informed customers are empowered to make better decisions. The bank's mission is to not only provide access to banking services but also to help individuals build sustainable livelihoods and legacies.

She further elaborated on the bank's broader role within Ghana's development agenda, stating that FirstBank Ghana's brand is built on integrity, service, innovation, and community impact. Since its inception in Ghana in 1996, the bank has focused on people-centered growth and leveraging the 131-year heritage of the FirstBank Group to benefit communities nationwide.

The new Tamale branch is a part of the bank's strategic plan to serve as a long-term development partner in the region. Ms Ebe-Arthur assured continued collaboration with the government, NGOs, and the private sector to expand the bank's impact.

Expressing gratitude to traditional leaders, religious leaders, regulators, customers, and staff, Ms Ebe-Arthur assured them of FirstBank Ghana's unwavering commitment to customer-centric services. On behalf of the Board of Directors, she inaugurated the Tamale branch, describing it as a beacon of possibility and a platform for empowerment.

Clients present at the commissioning expressed their satisfaction with the new branch, noting their intentions to leverage innovative banking services, including mobile banking, to bolster their businesses.
