Fishery and aquaculture products’ export value rises 40%

Exports of fishery and aquaculture products reached about 12.1 thousand tonnes worth 247 million dinars (MD) at the end of July 2017, up 6% in quantity and 40% in value, compared to the same period in 2016.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Monday, this increase in exports has led to an improvement in the trade balance by 145 MD, against 92 MD in 2016.

In addition, fishery and aquaculture production has posted a slight increase (+ 1%), reaching around 72 thousand tonnes during the first seven months of the year.

In terms of blue fish production, it has seen a growth of 21%, while production of aquaculture activity has remained almost stable (9 thousand tonnes in July 2017 compared with 9.2 thousand tonnes in July 2016).
