Five killed, fifty-two sustain injuries in Jbel Jloud train-bus collision (Upd 2)

The number of people injured in Wednesday’s Jebel Jloud train-bus collision rose to 52, the Interior Ministry said in a press release.

Ten ambulances, a tractor-trailer, a fire truck and four highway rescue vehicles in addition to two truck-cranes and three emergency department ambulances and a further two of military medical services were mobilised by the Civil Protection Service as soon as it knew about the accident.

Operations to transfer the injured to the hospitals of Greater Tunis, extricate bodies of the crash victims and restore normal road and railway traffic went on with the required celerity, the Ministry indicated.

Two National Army officers and an Antiterrorism Brigade (BAT) officer were among the five victims of the crash that involved Wednesday train n51/6 travelling between Tunis and Kalaa Khasba and a Nabeul Regional Transport Company bus.
