Tunis: President of the Republic Kas Saed visited the area of Bhar Lazreg, La Marsa, in the northern suburbs, to assess the damage caused by recent floods. The President underscored the necessity of supporting civil protection teams, which have been tirelessly performing pumping operations over the past days.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, President Saed stressed the importance of addressing the root causes to prevent future incidents. He attributed the persistent accumulation of water to corruption, vandalism, inadequate urban planning, and outdated rainwater evacuation systems. The Head of State engaged with local residents, who expressed concerns about infrastructure improvement and the rehabilitation of flooded roads.

The President's visit included stops in the most affected areas, such as the 'Salama neighbourhood,' where he spoke with residents about solutions for cleaning sewage networks and enhancing rainwater drainage. Accompanied by the Governor of Tunis and the delegate of La Marsa, President Saed also visited Sidi Bou Said to evaluate the situation of several shops damaged by the torrential rain.

In Sidi Bou Said, President Saed listened to shop owners' concerns about the necessity of finding solutions to relocate tourist buses to ensure business continuity. He also inspected the condition of homes affected by heavy rains and floods, emphasizing the need for effective measures to safeguard residents and their properties.
