FM meets with president of International Peace Institute

Minister of Foreign Affairs Khemaies Jhinaoui met Tuesday in Tunis with president of the International Peace Institute (IPI) Terje Roed-Larsea.

According to a statement of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the meeting focused on the activities and programmes of action of the IPI for the next period, notably as regards the settlement of conflicts between States and the strengthening of organisations active in fields of peace and security in the world.

The talk was also an opportunity to discuss a number of regional and international issues as well as the development of the situation in the Middle East, 25 years after the Oslo agreement, said the source.

The two interlocutors also discussed “the prospects of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IPI particularly in the field of studies and training”.

Terje Roed-Larsen commended the “achievements made in the democratic transition process in Tunisia”.

In turn, Khemaies Jhinaoui emphasised the importance of the role of the International Peace Institute and its efforts to resolve conflicts and establish security and stability at the regional and international levels.
