FM Partakes in 165th Arab League Council Meeting at Ministerial Level

Tunis: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti participated in the 165th Arab League Council Meeting at Ministerial Level, held online on Sunday. According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, in Tunisia's address, the FM underlined the delicate phase the Arab region is going through amid growing tensions threatening to undermine the foundations of regional and international security and stability, and exacerbate the humanitarian and economic situations in the region. Tunisia remains committed to its long-standing foreign policy principles and to the principles of international legitimacy, first and foremost respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, and its absolute rejection of any violation that desecrates Arab States or targets their stability and the destinies of their peoples, reads a Foreign Ministry press release. Nafti further expressed Tunisia's full and unconditional solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emira tes, the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, and Iraq, in confronting all that threatens their security, stability, and sovereignty. Tunisia also renewed its call to prioritize peaceful solutions, an immediate halt to escalations, and the adoption of dialogue and negotiation as the path to resolving disputes, building on existing diplomatic initiatives and efforts, and intensifying collective endeavors to avoid the region's slide into further instability. To this end, he called for the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities to ensure the enforcement of international law and international humanitarian law, indicating that the challenges facing the Arab region demonstrate that the absence of a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian issue remains the primary factor in the persistence of tension and instability. In this respect, he reaffirmed Tunisia's steadfast and principled position in support of the brotherly Palestinian people to regain all their l egitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent sovereign State on the entire Palestinian land with Al-Quds Al-Al Sharif as its capital. He expressed Tunisia's full solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese Republic and its rejection of all aggressions that violate its sovereignty and the integrity of its territories. The FM concluded by highlighting the importance of consolidating Arab unity and cohesion in decision-making through the development of more effective common approaches to confront current challenges, safeguard Arab peoples' interests, bolster the pillars of security and stability in our Arab and Islamic region, and support sustainable development paths in our region.
