Niger President Mohamed Bazoum affirmed the need to step up contacts with Tunisia and to activate the joint commission and sectoral commissions, so as to give a new boost to the relations binding Tunisia and Niger and diversify cooperation to involve promising niches benefiting both countries.
During his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi, on the sidelines of the African Union Extraordinary Summit in Malabo (capital of Equatorial Guinea), the Nigerien President expressed wish to visit Tunisia to attend the Francophonie Summit, to be hosted by Tunisia in Djerba next November.
He was quoted as saying in a Foreign Ministry press release issued on Sunday, that the Francophonie Summit is an important step to further foster relations between African countries at the multilateral level and with other entities.
He also commended the excellent relations between Tunisia and Niger, referring to the large number of Nigerien students attending Tunisian universities and training centres as well as the confidence of Nigerien nationals in the health system in Tunisia.
Besides, Jerandi held talks with Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, discussing bilateral relations and ways to further bolster and diversify cooperation with both countries.
