FM’s talks in Seoul with senior Korean officials

Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui held a series of talks with top Korean officials on Tuesday during his working visit to Seoul, South Korea.

Khemaies Jhinaoui met with former UN Secretary-General and President of Global Green Growth Institute Ban Ki-moon, and handed him a message from President Beji Caid Essebsi. This message includes an application for membership of Tunisia to this Organisation, a statement of the Foreign Affairs Ministry reads.

Founded in 2010 by former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, Global Green Growth Institute has since 2012 become a treaty-based international organisation. It “encourages commitment to green growth, especially in developing countries”. The Organisation, which currently has 28 states, is working to achieve a “balance between economic growth and environment”.

Besides, the Foreign Minister had an interview with the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly of South Korea. The talk focused on ways to promote bilateral relations between the Korean Parliament and the House of of People’s Representatives (HPR).

During his visit in South Korea, Khemaies Jhinaoui presided over the inauguration ceremony of the headquarters of the Honorary Consulate of Tunisia in Seoul.
