Former PDL members criticise monopoly of decision-making within party and call for rectifying process

Dismissed members Destourien Free Party (PDL) expressed hope the next party congress will be an opportunity to rectify the process and bring further support.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, they criticised the monopoly of decision-making in the party and discarding members.
Former member of the PDL political bureau Lotfi Mahfoudhi said he was removed from the party as well as all officials.
Mohamed Ilyès Ben Othmane said that Moussi did not respect the consensus reached during the last congress and fired all those who chose her to run the party.»
Hatem Amari underscored that, under Moussi, the PDL will not be able to maintain relations with other political parties.
Abir Moussi ‘’lacks political experience» and poorly manages the party’s budget.
«Time has come to rebuild the party,» PDL officials said, adding that «If Moussi does not take our proposals into consideration, we will resort to justice to prevent the organisation of the next congress whose theme should focus on reconciliation.»
They called for annulling the decision of their dismissal and creating a national committee in charge of preparing the next party’s congress.
Earlier on Tuesday, the PDL issued a statement stating that former members, who were dismissed from the party between 2016 and 2018, made use of the position of leaders of the political bureau and falsified documents so as to organise a press conference.
The party adds that the list of the PDL political bureau members has been submitted since 2018 to the services of the Prime Ministry.
