Four mineral water production units in Tunisia closed (Hydrotherapy Office)

Managing Director of the National Hydrotherapy Office Rezig Oueslati announced Wednesday the decision to close four mineral water production units in Tunisia following the recording of infringements.

Oueslati, who chose not to disclose the brands of these units, reiterated the commitment of the Office and the Trade Ministry to carry out the necessary analyzes to ensure the conformity of packaged mineral waters with Tunisian standards.

Speaking at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Consumer Defence Organization (ODC), on the launch of the national campaign to control the marketing of mineral water and soft drinks, the Director General pointed revealed several passages recorded in the circuit of distribution of the mineral waters, notably the non-display of prices.

With regard to the national campaign, he stressed that it is mainly aimed at the distribution channels and not production lines, as mineral water production units are under severe control.

For his part, ODC President Slim Saadullah announced his organization’s participation with the economic control teams in the Ministries of Trade and the Interior and the Hydrotherapy Office in this national campaign to ensure Control of the marketing of mineral waters and soft drinks, which will continue from Wednesday until the end of the summer season.

The campaign, which will cover several regions of the country, aims to deal with infringements in retail and kiosk storage and display of mineral water and soft drinks.

Saadallah added that this annual campaign, launched 4 years ago, is working to ensure the proper marketing of these products.

As the world’s 12th largest consumer of mineral water, Tunisians consume an average of 130 liters of mineral water per year, representing an annual national consumption of around 1 billion and 500 thousand liters.
