President of the Republic Kais Saied stressed the role of women in Tunisia since the 19th century, saying Tunisia is a leading country in the world in women’s empowerment. He also urged adopting a realistic approach that transcends traditional legislative texts and preserves women’s dignity.
Chairing, Sunday in Djerba, the second plenary thematic session of the 18th Summit of la Francophonie on “Women and Young People, Priority Goals of la Francophonie,” the Head of State also stressed the need for giving due attention to youth’s participation in public life.
At the end of his remarks, Saied wished that the meetings held as part of the Djerba Summit, would lead to concrete proposals and new approaches on issues related to women and youth within the French-speaking area and in the world, reads a statement of the Presidency of the Republic.
