The Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (French: FTDES) recommended developing a guidance document to address irregular migration-induced tragedies, at an analytical paper on migration that cited the recent Zarzis incident as an example. The goal is to create a database related to unidentified dead bodies.
The Forum also considered that it has become necessary to establish a national framework for people missing in irregular migration through the creation of an administrative body that includes all stakeholders in health, security, social affairs, and specialists in migration issues, as well as the civil society. This body will be the first to intervene when disasters occur, through providing care for the families and collecting and compiling data (fingerprinting and genetic analysis).
The FTDES also pointed out that it is now necessary to create a national framework relating to persons who go missing during irregular migration attempts, with the creation of an administrative body comprising various stakeholders. This side will be the first responder during sea tragedies and will provide all the necessary information and support to the families of the victims, the FTDES added.
