FTDES reiterate call to set up accommodation and orientation system at Tunisian-Algerian borders

The Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) on Wednesday reiterated its call for setting up an accommodation and orientation system at the Tunisian-Algerian borders, allowing to offer humanitarian aid to victims of irregular migration. This call was launched after 9 lifeless bodies of irregular migrants had been found by the Tunisian authorities in various areas of the governorate of Kasserine near the border with Algeria. The causes of death, according to the initial data, are notably cold, thirst and fatigue, the FTDES considered in a press release. The forum underlined the need for State intervention in order to alleviate the suffering of “victims of the migration policies of the European Union” which has confiscated, according to the FTDES, the right of movement from the people of the South.
