The criminal division of the Gabes court of first instance pronounced early Wednesday morning, a death sentence against 6 defendants in the case known as “Ain Sokhouna” which had occured in December 2020 between the inhabitants of Douz, Kebili and Bani Khaddech in Medenine over a land dispute in which 3 people had been killed, said first deputy public prosecutor to the court and its spokesman Mounir Aroum.
In a statement to TAP, Aroum indicated that the death penalty was pronounced against five defendants in court and the sixth was sentenced in absentia.
A seventh defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment, while the other defendants were sentenced to between one and eight years in prison, he pointed out.
A case dismissal was also issued.
