Gafsa: Commercial phosphate production resumes in Redeyef

The Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG) resumed its activities on Tuesday in the Redeyef delegation.

The resumption of commercial phosphate production at the CPG plant in Redeyef comes after 5 months of suspension due to the interruption of the well water supply for the laundries due to protest movements, said director of the factory Mohamed Gadmou.

He also affirmed the resumption of phosphate transport to customers of the company including the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) and the Tunisian-Indian Fertiliser Company (TIFERT).

The same source recalled that the production of commercial phosphate in the Redeyef unit reached last year its highest volume since 2011, 430 thousand tonnes. The goal is to increase to 650 thousand tonnes this year.

With the resumption of production in Redeyef, Gafsa Phosphate Company has thus fully resumed its activities in its 11 laundries.
