A general strike was observed on Monday in the Feriana delegation (Kasserine governorate) at the call of several components of the civil society demanding employment and development projects for their delegation.

A large number of citizens and representatives of the civil society took part in a peaceful march in the city’s main streets. They shouted slogans for employment, development and activation of projects frozen since 2012 that includes notably the free-exchange area, water treatment plant, changing the local hospital into a category B regional hospital and regularisation of the construction workers’ situation.

Most of the educational institutions, administration and shops were closed except the municipality, the local hospital, bakeries and pharmacies.

Co-ordinator of this movement Abderahmane Kachbouri estimates a 90% participation rate in this general strike.
