Accra: The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), in partnership with Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, has officially launched the sixth edition of the PruRide championship. This initiative aims to promote a healthier population and foster a sustainable future in Ghana.
According to Ghana News Agency, the theme for this year’s event is ‘Ride not just for fitness, but for the future; let’s pedal with purpose, lead with vision, and inspire change.’ At the launch event, Madam Jane Dornukuor Mingle, CEO of Prudential Life Insurance, emphasized the event’s role in encouraging lifestyles that enhance personal well-being and the protection of the planet. She highlighted that PruRide is a significant step toward promoting low-emission transportation, active living, and community connections.
Madam Dornukuor detailed the benefits of cycling, noting its positive impact on cardiovascular health, stress reduction, mental health, and community building. She urged stakeholders, corporate entities, communities, families, and individuals to integrate cycling into their daily lives.
Mr Mohammed Shabban, the Secretary General of the GCF, expressed gratitude to Prudential Life Insurance for its ongoing partnership since 2014. He also acknowledged the presence of Mr Richard Akpokavie, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), and expressed optimism for the success of this year’s edition.
Prominent figures at the launch included Mr Richard Akpokavie, Madam Jane Dornukuor Mingle, Madam Gifty Owusu, Head of Sustainability; Board Member of the GOC Nana Adu Mankatta II; and representatives from the National Sports Authority.
