Ghana Enterprises Agency Launches Ghana Mall to Elevate Local Products

Accra: The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), in a strategic collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, has inaugurated the Ghana Mall, a marketplace designed to enhance the visibility of products made by over 800 local entrepreneurs. This initiative is part of the government's broader effort to bolster the capabilities of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country. According to Ghana News Agency, the Ghana Mall serves as the centerpiece of the BizBox Project, an initiative aimed at supporting 250,000 young entrepreneurs nationwide. By providing a platform for small businesses to access wider markets, the mall is expected to help increase revenue and facilitate business-to-business networking opportunities. Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, CEO of GEA, underscored the agency's commitment to the growth of SMEs, emphasizing the creation of a space where local businesses can thrive and obtain the necessary funding for sustainable expansion. Mrs. Yankey-Ayeh highlighted the importance of market acces s as part of their strategy, which involves partnerships with both the private sector and government. "Through strategic partnerships, including with the private sector, the Ghana Mall represents just the beginning of more opportunities to come," she stated. She expressed the ambition to establish similar facilities in every region, fostering engagement and addressing key issues facing the MSME sector. The initiative was praised by Kofi Ahenkora Marfo, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, who acknowledged the critical role of MSMEs in the Ghanaian economy. He expressed optimism that the Ghana Mall concept would be replicated across all regions to enhance product visibility and networking among MSMEs. Mr. Solomon Kotei Nikoi, Municipal Chief Executive of LaDMA, remarked on the project's alignment with the vision of fostering SME growth and innovation, as well as creating employment opportunities. He described the Ghana Mall as a hub for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and access resources for ex pansion. "Today we celebrate a major milestone in that journey not only for the GEA but for the entire entrepreneur ecosystem of Ghana," he concluded.
