Damongo: President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has publicly endorsed his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the ideal candidate to succeed him in the upcoming December 7 election. Addressing a crowd during a "Thank You Rally" in Damongo, President Akufo-Addo praised Dr. Bawumia's competence, loyalty, and dedication to the Ghanaian people, stating that he possesses all the qualities necessary to continue the nation's development. According to Ghana News Agency, President Akufo-Addo highlighted Dr. Bawumia's deep understanding of the concerns of Ghanaians and his profound love for the country. He urged the electorate in the Savana Region to vote for Dr. Bawumia to ensure the continuation of the developmental projects and policies initiated during his tenure. The President also took the opportunity to recount the achievements of his administration in the Savana Region, particularly noting the creation of the Savannah Region itself. He detailed several key initiatives such as the construction of factories, road pro jects, and the significant progress of the Damongo Water Project. Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo announced the integration of the Daboya College of Education into the government's management, marking another step forward in educational development in the region. Samuel Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Damongo and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, also spoke at the rally, emphasizing the transformative impact of President Akufo-Addo's policies on the region. He celebrated the creation of the Savannah Region as a fulfillment of a long-standing aspiration of the Gonja people, dating back to the 19th century. The rally not only served as a platform to endorse Dr. Bawumia but also as an occasion for President Akufo-Addo to express his gratitude to the Overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, for his support, particularly in resolving the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute.
