Accra: The Ghana Statistical Service has reported that the Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG) for July 2025 stands at 4.5 per cent, a decrease from 8.3 per cent in July 2024. The announcement was made by Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, the Government Statistician, during a press briefing in Accra.
According to Ghana News Agency, the services sector showed an increase, recording a 6.4 per cent growth in July 2025, compared to 4.5 per cent in July 2024. This sector contributed 58.4 per cent of the 4.5 per cent growth in the MIEG. The agriculture sector also demonstrated improvement, with an 8.0 per cent growth in July 2025, up from 2.4 per cent in July 2024, contributing 37.1 per cent of the MIEG growth.
In contrast, the industry sector’s performance moderated significantly, with a MIEG of 0.1 per cent in July 2025 compared to 17.7 per cent in July 2024. This marginal expansion accounted for 0.9 per cent of the total growth in the MIEG. The MIEG serves as a high-frequency economic statistic, offering insights into monthly economic performance and tracking changes in economic activity and the aggregate index for Ghana’s economy.
