TAMALE: The European Union Ghana Agriculture Programme (EUGAP), in collaboration with the Agrihouse Foundation, is set to host the 14th Annual Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition on October 29 and 30, 2024, at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale. According to Ghana News Agency, this marks the fourth consecutive year of partnership between EUGAP and the Agrihouse Foundation. The theme of this year's event is "Connecting the Unconnected - Feeding the Future through Innovative and Technological Approaches." The conference aims to strengthen market linkages, promote innovation, and enhance productivity within Ghana's agricultural sector. Since 2019, the EUGAP, through its GIZ-implemented projects-the Market Oriented Agriculture Programme in North-West (MOAP NW) and the Resilience Against Climate Change (REACH)-has supported the Agrihouse Foundation in organizing this pivotal event. Madam Sarah Rffler, Commission Manager for the GIZ-EUGAP programme for Sustainable Employment through Ag ribusiness, emphasized the collaboration's impact at the conference launch. She highlighted the success in establishing strong business linkages for over 50 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices. Rffler stressed the importance of this partnership in facing current challenges such as the dry spell in Northern Ghana, advocating for more collaboration and innovation to build a sustainable, efficient, and resilient agricultural sector. Ms Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, also expressed her gratitude for the continued support from GIZ-EUGAP. She noted the transformative effect the annual event has had on the agricultural community, fostering growth, sustainability, and connectivity. The event not only serves as a conference but also as a platform where deals are made, knowledge is shared, and connections are forged, impacting over 150,000 value chain actors and stakeholders. The two-day event will feature a varie ty of activities including conference sessions, presentations, exhibitions, and a marketplace, all designed to foster business-to-business interactions. Participants will engage in practical and immersive sessions, gaining deeper insights into best practices and capitalizing on the opportunities within the agricultural sector.
