Accra: Mr Kofi Yeboah, General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has made a donation to the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, as part of his 'Tenable and Turntable' initiative. He called on corporate organisations and individuals to support the Centre when he presented items, including a freezer, clothes, and sanitary pads to trainees at the facility, on Thursday. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Yeboah highlighted the lack of essential items necessary for the upkeep and training at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre (ARC), a national institution that provides vocational training for persons with disabilities (PWDs). He expressed that his support stemmed from learning about the challenges faced by the ARC during his field work as part of his Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights Law and Practice programme at the University of Ghana. The donation was described by Mr Yeboah as part of his humanitarian service to the underprivileged in society. He mentioned that the day was significant as it was h is birthday, and he felt it was fitting to celebrate it by supporting the Centre. He mobilised the items with the help of his friends to assist ARC. Mr Yeboah, who also lectures in communications at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, encouraged the public to contribute food items, household, and personal effects to the ARC. He emphasised the need for facilities to train PWDs in information and communication technology (ICT) and hairdressing, which would help the trainees secure employment after their training. Mr Seth Dzidzornu, Centre Manager of the ARC, praised Mr Yeboah and his friends for their contributions. He recalled Mr Yeboah's promise to return and support the Centre after his visit during his studies. Mr Dzidzornu expressed hope for continued support and hinted at more significant contributions in the future. Ms Nina Okorafor, Assistant Centre Manager in-charge of Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude for the donation, describing it as a 'show of love.' She assured that the items would be used to improve and enhance the rehabilitation centre, pledging to use them to the benefit of the trainees.
