Global Sumud Flotilla’s First Vessel Departs Tunisia for Gaza

Bizerte: An initial vessel of the Global Sumud Flotilla has departed Tunisia's Bizerte Port towards Gaza, according to a statement by the organisers. The ship, part of an effort to challenge the Israeli blockade and deliver humanitarian aid, marks the first of several flotillas intended for the besieged enclave.

According to TRTworld.com, the organisers announced the departure on X, sharing a video of the vessel setting sail. The event was witnessed and documented by activists and journalists, highlighting the ongoing efforts to support Gaza amidst the Israeli blockade.

The Israeli army has maintained a military offensive in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of more than 64,800 Palestinians since October 2023. This ongoing conflict has drawn significant international attention and legal actions. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice due to its military actions in the enclave. The Global Sumud Flotilla's mission is part of a broader international response to these developments, aiming to provide relief and draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
