Government against return of terrorists, has not signed relevant agreement (Dahmani)

The government is against the return of terrorists from hotbeds of tension and is unwilling to act in this connection, Government Spokesman Iyad Dahmani said at the end of the Cabinet meeting held on Friday at the Kasbah Palace, adding that the government has not signed any agreement organising their return.

Regarding Tunisians who returned from hot spots (Iraq, Syria and Libya) over the past years, Dahmani said they will be tried on the basis of the Anti-terrorism Act. Their number does not exceed 3 thousands and the Tunisian State has a list of their names.

Tunisian intelligence services are informed of the presence of Tunisian terrorists in areas of tensions, he said adding that there is no risk zero, despite the high alert of security forces.

The return of Tunisian terrorist started since the Iraq war, he said. Some of them were put under house arrest.

Dahmani did not rule out the idea of creating prison units, in accordance with standards of close monitoring of terrorists returning from areas of tension.

He further denied information relayed on the return of 30 terrorists from Germany. The agreements signed with several countries, including Germany and France, only concern Tunisian people without legal status, he noted.
