Government should not adopt policy of ostrich (Tabboubi)

Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Noureddine Tabboubi called on Saturday the government to assume its responsibilities and not to adopt the policy of the ostrich, especially after blacklisting Tunisia among third countries that have strategic deficiencies in their anti-money laundering and terrorist financing regimes.

In his remarks to the 2nd Congress of the General Federation of Education officials organised in Hammamet, Tabboubi pointed out that the UGTT will provide for the equipment of the October 25 boarding school in Thala where fire killed two pupils.

He called on the government to make the public school a national priority.

In this regard, the S-G reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to the public sector mainly education and health.

He also indicated that in preparation for a new round of social negotiations with the government, the UGTT had started the conduct of an in-depth study on the taxation aspect of employees who believe that there is still tax injustice.

Tabboubi pointed out that in spite of all the difficulties, mainly corruption, Tunisia remains an investment destination.
