Government to examine Enfidha deep water port project next week

A working session will be held at the headquarters of the Prime Ministry on Friday, February 2, 2018, to discuss the acceleration of the completion of the Enfidha deep water port project, after the impending settlement of the land appropriation issue and the State’s commitment to pay compensation exceeding 1 million dinars, announced the Ministry of Transport.

In a statement released Saturday, the ministry said it plans to settle this issue in two or three months, through the expropriation of 945 hectares, including 4 subdivisions belonging to the public maritime domain.

The ministry noted that several working sessions chaired by Minister of Transport Radhouane Ayara had focused on the progress of the implementation of this mega-project.

It added that these meetings resulted in a set of administrative and legal measures.

The project aims to create a development dynamic in the interior regions of the country in two phases, the first part of which will be completed in 2022, while the second part will end by 2024.

The project, which includes a 1000-hectare logistics zone for governorates located 150 km from the project, will create nearly 52,000 jobs.
