Grace Antwi Hayford Adjudged 2025 Mirror Model Mother

Kasoa: Madam Grace Antwi Hayford, a baker from the peri-urban town of Kasoa in the Central Region, has been named 'The Mirror Model Mother' for 2025. She emerged victorious among over 1000 mothers due to her resilience and efforts in supporting her family and others during challenging times.

According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Hayford was honored on Mother's Day during a garden buffet organized by The Mirror, a weekly publication of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, in partnership with Oak-Plaza Hotel. The event, titled 'Mom-orable Mother's Day Celebration,' celebrated Ghanaian mothers for their roles within their families.

During the event, attendees enjoyed food, drinks, and music by the Lipstick Queens, an all-female band in Ghana. Madam Hayford shared her motherhood journey, recounting how she moved from the Northern Region to Kasoa with her husband after he lost his job. She started a bread business with their savings and borrowed funds to expand, ultimately establishing a bakery that employed locals and supported her children's education.

Madam Hayford also assisted other children with their schooling, encouraging them to rise from poverty and care for their parents. She urged other mothers to follow her example, emphasizing the value of hard work and its rewards. "Hard work pays," she expressed.

Madam Doreen Hammond, Editor of The Mirror, highlighted the paper's focus on women, underscoring the importance of celebrating Mother's Day. She noted that mothers and mother-figures play crucial roles in nurturing children and improving society.

Ms. Abena Osei-Poku, Managing Director of Ecobank, in a speech read on her behalf, acknowledged the impact of mothers who balance family and business, turning dreams into reality and empowering others. She emphasized that such mothers deserve recognition for their contributions.
