Great fashion designer Ezzedine Alaia laid to rest in Sidi Bousaid

Great Franco-Tunisian fashion designer Azzedine AlaA�a, who died on Friday night in the French capital where he lived, was buried Monday in the Sidi Bou Said a northern suburb of Tunis.

Many celebrities were present to bid him farewell, including top models Naomi Campbell and Tunisian Afef Jenifen, who were close to him, and Tunisian designers Ashraf Bacouche and Salah Barka.

Tunisian and foreign politicians and media accredited in Tunis attended the funeral held in honour of this talented creator who has been living in France for more than six decades.

In accordance with his wishes, the couturier was buried with his family and in his native country which he left a long time ago but with whom he has always kept very close links.

Mohamed Zine El Abidine, Minister of Cultural Affairs, and Olivier Poivre d’Arvor, Ambassador of France in Tunis, were at the forefront of officials present at the funeral after being, Sunday evening, at the reception of the remains of the fashion designer, repatriated late in the evening at Tunis-Carthage Airport.
